Our Mission

Let Girls Be Great Foundation Inc. is a charitable organization dedicated to promoting equal access to education as a means of restoring justice for women and children. Our mission is to empower these communities by ensuring they have the necessary school supplies, resources, and guidance they need to succeed. We wholeheartedly believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to thrive academically and personally. Through our efforts, we aim to create a more equitable and inclusive society that recognizes and values the potential of every individual, regardless of their gender or background. Giving

We donate school materials to children in the inner city schools. We go to remote parts of the world to coach teachers and provide school supplies.

Visitation

We passionately stand behind after-school organizations and clubs in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, as well as embark on enriching journeys to various parts of Africa and Asia to provide essential guidance in the realm of arts and languages. Our heartfelt mission is to make a positive impact and empower young minds through these initiatives.

“The Founder”

Linda Akpakwu, an immigrant from Nigeria who now calls Los Angeles home, embarked on a heartfelt mission after spending twenty years as an educator in an inner-city school. Over the years, she witnessed the hardships and deprivations faced by countless children, and it deeply resonated with her. What struck her the most was the glaring absence of crucial educational resources. Many of these bright young minds yearned for the guidance and support of a caring adult figure at home, which unfortunately they lacked. This void greatly hindered their ability to thrive academically. We cannot underestimate the importance of education in a child's life. It is a gateway to a brighter future and the vital foundation upon which dreams are built. Yet, for these children, their path towards success is riddled with obstacles. Without the necessary tools and resources, their journey becomes an arduous one. This reality tugs at our heartstrings and compels us to take action.

Monthly Meetings

In our mission to empower and uplift our communities, we actively engage with our esteemed board members on a monthly basis. Through a combination of physical gatherings and online meetings, we collaboratively strategize innovative approaches to enhance our capacity and productivity. These sessions serve as a platform to discuss and implement targeted actions that will bring meaningful change to the lives of individuals within our communities. Furthermore, we recognize the invaluable potential of empowering young women across the globe. To fulfill this vision, we extend our reach by conducting impactful webinars and comprehensive training sessions. These initiatives are carefully designed to equip young women with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources they need to overcome obstacles and achieve their utmost potential. We firmly believe in the power of unity and shared purpose. By uniting passionate individuals and dedicated philanthropists, our collective efforts create ripple effects that extend far beyond what each of us could achieve alone. Together, we pave the way for a brighter future, where communities thrive and individuals flourish.

Visiting

Every month, we make it a point to visit Boys and Girls clubs, where we dedicate our time and efforts to providing essential mentorship and tutoring for the incredible students who attend these after-school programs. Our main objective is to empower and support these young individuals, giving them the tools and guidance they need to succeed in their academic journey and beyond. It is a deeply rewarding experience to be able to connect with these bright minds, witnessing their growth and witnessing the positive impact we can have in their lives. Through our mentorship sessions, we aim to instill a sense of confidence, motivation, and resilience in these students, encouraging them to dream big and chase after their aspirations. Our tutoring sessions go beyond simply helping with homework or studying; they create a safe and nurturing environment where these students can ask questions, explore new concepts, and develop a love for learning. By tailoring our approach to meet the individual needs of each student, we strive to unlock their full potential and cultivate a passion for education. The connection we form with these club members goes beyond just academic support. We aim to be positive role models and sources of inspiration for them, reminding them that with hard work, dedication, and the right mindset, anything is possible. By nurturing their emotional well-being and teaching them essential life skills, we are equipping them with the tools they need to overcome challenges and thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Supplies

In our endeavor to make a positive impact, we extend our support to children in underprivileged regions by providing them with essential school materials and facilitating access to technology. These young minds, residing in third world countries, face immense challenges due to the lack of basic supplies and limited means to acquire information. It is our firm belief that equal opportunities in education play a pivotal role in shaping a better future for all. Every child deserves the chance to pursue knowledge and unleash their potential, regardless of their background or geographical location. However, the unfortunate reality is that many children in less developed nations face barriers that prevent them from fully embracing their educational journey. Through our initiative, we strive to bridge this gap and empower these children with the tools they need to thrive academically. By providing school materials such as textbooks, exercise books, and stationery, we aim to create an environment where learning becomes accessible and engaging for these young learners.
